VII.9.19 Pompeii. September 2005. North entrance to Macellum on Via degli Augustali, looking south. According to Mau, somewhere amongst these shops and stalls to the north of the macellum, various charred foodstuffs were found. Charred figs, chestnuts, fruits in glass vessels, plums, grapes, lentils, grain, loaves of bread and cakes were excavated. See Mau, A., 1907, translated by Kelsey, F. W., Pompeii: Its Life and Art. According to Mau, somewhere amongst these shops and stalls to the north of the macellum, various charred foodstuffs were found.

Two cupids and two psyches are seated at a table making garlands.

To the left stand a cupid holding garlands and a psyche.

On the right a psyche bends over a bench on which is a basket full of blooms.

In the centre is a round tray with two beakers on it. To the left a cupid appears to be putting a garland round the neck of a mule.
