VI.1.7 Pompeii. Room 19. Mid-19th century watercolour by Serafino Mastracchio showing the east wall.
The painting depicts a painted wall
decoration with a central painting depicting the dressing of a young woman.
The plinth is made up of dark marble
slabs.
The median area has three light blue
panels: the two side panels, edged with golden plant interweaving, have a
female figurine in flight in the centre.
The central panel, framed by articulated
architectural scenes, shows in the centre a painting with the dressing table of
a woman helped by two maids, while two others are placed on the left side.
The upper register, again with a blue
background, is decorated with human figures within slender architectural wings.
An embroidered curtain and cupids
decorate the lunette closing the composition at the top.
