On the west pilaster (left), between V.2.16 and 17, a graffito was found.

According to Della Corte, the possible owner of the thermopolium, shop and modest house (V.2.17-20) was named Pollia.

M(arcum) Cerrinium

According to NdS, when excavated the shop was found with a sales counter, covered with plaster imitating coloured marble and decorated with a painting (0.79 x 0.51).

The painting showed Teti (Thetis? or Tethys?) dressed in a pink robe sitting on a bearded Triton, and armed with helmet, shield and breast-plate.

While she held the shield on the back of the monster with the left hand, she grasped the lance in her right-hand, that the Triton carried on his shoulders.

The Triton was swimming towards the left and turning his gaze to the goddess.

On 15th November 1877, Fiorelli wrote –

“In Reg. V, 2, nella bottega no.17, si era scoperto il podio per la vendita, rivestitio d’intonaco imitante i marmi colorati ed ornati di un dipinto (0.79 x 0.51).

Vi si vede Teti che vestita di chitone roseo siede sopra un Tritone barbato, ed era armata di elmo, scudo e corazza; e mentre con la sinistra tiene lo scudo poggiato sul dorso del mostro, afferra con la dritta la lancia, che il Tritone porta sull’omero, nuotando verso sinistra e rivolgendo lo sguardo alla dea.”

There you can see Thetis, dressed in rose-coloured robe, sitting on top of a bearded Triton, and was armed with helmet, shield and breast-armour; and while with the left hand she holds the shield resting on the back of the monster, she grabs the spear with her right hand, which the Triton carried on his shoulders, he was swimming to the left and looking back towards the goddess.")
