I.7.3 Pompeii. December 2005. Looking south along west side of atrium to small garden.
According to Jashemski, in the light-well or small garden at the rear of the atrium, was a small raised flower bed.
In the bed was a tiny semi-circular pool, which was fed by roof water.
There were three marble bases which were probably placed at the edge of the pool.
On the south wall behind the small garden was a garden painting.

The base was formed by triangular and hexagonal pieces of coloured marble inserted symmetrically.
The cocciopesto border belonged to the first phase of construction of the house.
In the centre, a marble circular cover closed the cistern below.
