VII.4.48 Pompeii. March 2009. Entrance. According to Della Corte, living in this house in 79AD would have been an ancient Pompeian family with the name of Mària. He said proof of this was the electoral recommendation written to the left of the entrance:

Holconium
II vir(um) i(ure) d(icundo)
Marius rog(at) [CIL IV 291]

VII.4.48 Pompeii. 1839. Four flying figures, drawn by Zahn.
According to Zahn –
“These were found on a white background in a room to the left of the atrium, detached in the summer of the same year.
The wings of the cupids playing the pan-pipes were grey/violet, and his clothing was yellow.
The clothing of the other cupid, at the top, was violet.
The cupid carrying the golden horn of abundance, had blue clothing and the wings were of violet and yellow.
The wings of the fourth cupid were blue and green, the clothing with the fruits was white, yellow in the shadows.”
See Zahn, W., 1842-44. Die schönsten Ornamente und merkwürdigsten Gemälde aus Pompeji, Herkulanum und Stabiae: II. Berlin: Reimer, taf. 10.
(Note: Zahn said these figures were from a room on the left of the atrium, this would either mean our rooms 3, 4 or 5, none of which has any decoration left to be able to identify the correct room).
