VI.16.32 Pompeii. March 2009. Looking north to doorway to room E, oecus, with remains of window on right. The floor of this room was cocciopesto with marble inlay. The walls were painted with the usual large panels, three on each of the narrow walls (east and west). The panel remains on the south wall, were three but the doorway and window also opened in this wall. The north wall would have certainly had more than three panels, but its plastered decoration was entirely destroyed. The frieze was also almost entirely destroyed. The plinth had a black background, and was divided in panels using dashes. The large panels of the walls had a red background. The central panel on the east and west wall contained a white background. In the centre of the other panels on the same walls was a painting of a small pot or vase, with a few small secondary objects below. In the middle of the preserved panel of the other two walls was a feeding bird, except in that to the left of the window where there was a painted vase.

VI.16.32 Pompeii. March 2009. Room E, east wall with central panel (height 1.10m width 0.76m) . According to NdS, the central panel showed a painting of a sacred grove with a herm of Priapus painted in red. On the right was a high pilaster, on top of which was a large rounded vase. Near the base of the pilaster was a red statue of Minerva. To the left of the painting, were two women approaching an altar placed before Priapus, and of these that to the right carried some offerings. In front of the sacred enclosure was either a river or lake, with a bridge. At the left end of the bridge were two goats drinking. There was also another woman followed by a boy and a girl. See Notizie degli Scavi di Antichità, 1908, (p296-7).

VI.16.32 Pompeii. March 2009. Room E, west wall with site of central panel (height 1.08m width 0.76m). According to NdS, the central panel was very faded but the subject was recognisable. On the right sitting above a cliff was a naked Polyphemus, with a sheep nearby. On the left would have been Galatea, arriving on the back of a dolphin, but this was mostly destroyed. She was clothed in a yellow tunic with red cloak on top, and in her right hand she carried a leaf. See Notizie degli Scavi, 1908, (p.297).

VI.16.32 Pompeii. December 2005.
Room B, east wall of atrium with doorway to room F, garden area with niches above.
According to NdS, in the north-east corner of the atrium was a low masonry wall, on which there was a second smaller one.
Sogliano seemed to think he could see the void in which the end of a wooden ladder would have been fixed.
The wooden ladder would have leaned against the north wall and given access to an upper floor.
See Notizie degli Scavi di Antichità, 1908, (p.287)
To the left and straight ahead in the east wall were two large windows that gave onto garden F, between them was a doorway to the garden.
Later however, the window on the left and the doorway were bricked up, and the window on the right was changed into the doorway.
The garden F was open and uncovered.

Along part of the west and north sides was a rough channel. At the east end of this in the ground was a terracotta puteal (e).
